The Real Cost of Moving Violations

Drivers tend to have an acceptance of light speeding failing to yield, tailgating, failing to use a turn signal or seatbelt.  Many drivers take it upon themselves to follow a slow driver too slowly, or tailgate them, in order to increase their own speeds.  This normal situation is one that already involves two moving violations, and could lead to many others, such as failure to stop, or improper passing.  But these seemingly common moving violations do incur high costs for drivers' insurance.

COST: Your Day In Court

Drivers have two options when faced with a moving violation.  The first is to plead guilty, meaning that the ticket will be paid.  This often prompts an increase in insurance rates along with the monetary cost of the ticket, mandatory driving school, and points on one' driving record--which can lead to a loss of license.  The process of paying a ticket also takes time as one has to go through the process of paying online, mailing the ticket to traffic court, or delivering the ticket in person.  The second choice drivers have is to plead not guilty and fight the ticket.  Along with the cost of an attorney this option leads to court fees.  Drivers can potentially be found guilty and have to handle all costs associated with the first option, along with the time and money spent at court.

COST:  Your License Suspended

There are factors that can increase the already steep costs of moving violations as, several of these can lead to a suspension of one's license.  These include driving under the influence (DUI) offences, and causing a serious accident. The costs of these infractions increases when combined with one another, especially with regard to DUI violations.  Extreme speeding -- 15 or more miles per hour over the limit -- can also result in license suspension.  Along with the violations listed earlier, the price of a ticket can increase due to being an out of state driver, or a habitual offender.

COST:  Your Insurance Premiums Increase

Many common moving violations do cause a substantial increase in insurance premiums.  Moving violations are not ideal for any driver and most drivers try to avoid the costs associated with them, by driving carefully and focusing on not violating any traffic laws.  But, accidents are bound to happen no matter how safe a driver is.  Automobile insurance is necessary for all drivers, but having high quality, reliable insurance is key to lowering the costs of moving violations.  Call Royal Insurance Agency for a quote today.
