Protecting Your Family and Your Investment

Protecting your family and your investments is important to you.  We can help.

The National Fire Protection Association reports that:

COOKING EQUIPMENT IS THE #1 CAUSE of house fires in the last few years.

HEATING EQUIPMENT IS THE #2 CAUSE.

Fire is your home's biggest threat
  • COOKING EQUIPMENT Keep storage areas above stove free of flammable and combustible items.  Never leave your stove unattended when cooking.  Don't place towels, potholders or plastic utensils near the range.
  • WOOD/PELLET STOVES Have it professionally installed and keep all combustibles three feet away.  Use a metal container with tight-fitting lid for ash removal.  Have it professionally cleaned annually and check periodically for creosote buildup.
  • PORTABLE HEATERS Never use an extension cord. Keep combustibles at least three feet away.  Never place heater in a cabinet or on a table.
  • CANDLES Over a third of home candle fires begin in the bedroom.  Never leave candles unattended and keep combustibles at least three feet away.  Beware of blowing curtains and be extra vigilant during the holidays.
  • POWER OUTAGE
    Minimize Hazards and Inconvenience
  • Fill plastic containers with water, leaving an inch at the top and place in refrigerator and freezer.  The chilled/frozen water will help keep food cold longer.
  • Use battery operated lanterns, safety glow sticks and flashlights. They are much safer than candles for light.
  • Never use your oven as a heat source.
